Up to 15 militants loyal to the Islamic State (IS) also known as Daesh were killed as their hideouts were attacked by US-led NATO aircrafts in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan on Friday night, a local government statement said Saturday.
According to the statement by the media office of the provincial government the operation took place in Gajni area of Haska mina district in Nangarhar province. A number of weapons and ammunition of the armed insurgents were also destroyed, the statement added.
No civilian was hurt during the airstrike.
Nangarhar province, with Jalalabad as its capital located 120 km east of Kabul, has been the scene of IS activities since early 2015.
