UN condemns Taliban attack on Kunduz

The United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon has condemned the attack on Kunduz city in a statement released on Tuesday.
A statement released by the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, read: “The Secretary-General condemns the attack, claimed by the Taliban, on the city of Kunduz in northern Afghanistan today. Such attacks on civilians and civilian facilities are a clear violation of international human rights and humanitarian law.”
UN also strongly condemns atrocity that killed at least 17 civilians and injured 60 others on Sunday in Paktika.
Meanwhile, UN calls for peaceful settlement of differences saying it is in the interests of building a stronger and stable future for the people of Afghanistan and the region as a whole.
Earlier Amnesty International urged the government of Afghanistan and the Taliban group to protect civilians as fighting rages in Kunduz.
