Turkey’s Chief of Army Staff, Hulusi Akar, pledged continued military support to Afghanistan in the format of NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission, the Afghanistan Presidential palace announced on Friday.
According to the statement President Ghani has met Turkey’s Chief of Army Staff on Friday afternoon and discussed bilateral relations between Kabul and Ankura and praised Turkey’s long-term cooperation to Afghanistan, especially in the field of security within the framework of the NATO, ISAF and RS missions.
At the same time, Turkey’s top military official has emphasized on deep and strategic relations between the two country saying his country continues to fight against terrorism in its soil and in the region, hailing Afghanistan for remaining in the frontline to combat the terrorism.
The two sides also discussed the WARSAW summit on Afghanistan and Afghan leader thanked the Turkish president’s efforts in attracting more support to Afghanistan from the international community.
Ghani also emphasized on more bilateral work between the defense ministries of the two nations to prepare for the WARSAW summit.
