Top officials of Russia, China, Iran and Pakistan met on Friday on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York to discuss Afghanistan.
Russian foreign ministry said in a statement that the parties compared their approaches to the Afghanistan settlement.
They also underscored that there was "no alternative to establishing mutually respectful dialogue and partnership relations with the current authorities of Afghanistan," according to the statement.
It was the third foreign ministerial meeting of the regional quartet on Afghanistan. Pakistan was represented by its defense minister Khawaja Asif.
