Three Afghan Police Killed in Taliban Ambush in Herat

Three Afghan police including a woman have been killed in a Taliban ambush in western Herat province, officials said Monday.

Spokesman for the Provincial Governor, Jelani Farhad said that the incident took place in Ahmad Abad area on Monday morning when the police were traveling en route to Herat-Islam Qala highway.  

The policemen were based in Herat’s Islam Qala Customs office and were gunned by the Taliban, an official of the Customs office said.

This comes a local residents claim the Taliban have increased their presence in Ahmad Abad area of Herat-Islam Qala highway since last month.
