At least eight soldiers were killed after Taliban fighters attacked a security outpost in northeast Takhar province, a local official said on Tuesday.
Mohammad Jawad Hijri, a spokesman for the provincial governor told Ariana News that Taliban militants stormed Charsiha outpost located between Darqad and Khawajah Bahawodin districts at around 1:30 am on Tuesday.
According to Hijri, at least eight security personnel were killed during the clashes with the Taliban militants.
However, a Taliban spokesman said in a statement that they have killed 10 soldiers including six public police and four Afghan policemen.
He further claimed a large number of weapons and equipment were seized in the incident.
