Taliban Storm Outposts in Sar-i-Pul, Killing Eight Security Personnel

The Taliban militants have stormed two security outposts in Sayad district of northern Sar-i-Pul province, killing at least eight security personnel and wounding four others, a local official said on Sunday.

The Provincial Council Chief Mohammad Noor Rahmani told Ariana News that the Taliban insurgents attacked the security outposts around 01:00 am on Sunday.

Rahmani said that during the clashes the police chief of Sayyad along with three security forces was wounded.

The official noted that the Taliban have captured an outpost and seize some weapons and a police vehicle.

The official, meanwhile, warned that if the Afghan security forces do not conduct clearance operations against the militants, the provincial capital likely to collapse.

Separately,  the Taliban militants stormed a security outpost in Khawaja Ghar district of northern Takhar province today which left four police killed and 11 others injured.

The Taliban have recently increased the scale of attacks on security outposts in northern provinces. On Friday, the armed group stormed an outpost in Sar-e-Pul province, killing at least five security personnel and wounding over a dozen others.
