Taliban shadow district governor for northern Faryab province of Afghanistan was killed by the Afghan intelligence forces in Jawzjan province, a security source has said.
Qari Najibullah famous as Sonatullah who was the Taliban so-called district governor of Belcheragh district of Faryab province was killed during an operation by the Afghan National Directorate of Security (NDS), a security source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said.
Sonatullah was a key Taliban member in Jawzjan province was killed with his two bodyguards in Qush Tappeh district of Jawzjan, he added.
This comes as the Afghan spy agency reported that a local Taliban commander was arrested in western Kandahar province of Afghanistan.
Belcheragh is a district in the southern part of Faryab province where anti-government insurgent groups are operating in a number of its areas.
