Taliban Pushed Back After Attack on Checkpoints in Parwan

The Taliban on Saturday carried out coordinated attacks on security checkpoints in Jabal Saraj district of eastern Parwan province, officials said.

The District Police Chief, Mohammad Masoum Farzayee told Ariana News that the Taliban launched the attack from several directions at around 05:00 a.m. local time on security checkpoints in Pul-e-Ashaba region of Jabal Saraj district.

Farzayee added that the Taliban closed the Ghorband highway to traffic, following the attack.

According to Farzayee, the Taliban attempted to kidnap several buses of passengers but were rescued after Afghan security forces encounter.

Local officials said the clashes were ongoing in Ashaba region of the district and one insurgent was killed.

The Taliban has not immediately commented on the incident so far.

There is no report of casualties to civilians and Afghan security forces.
