Taliban Overrun Ghazni’s Zana Khan District
The Taliban have overrun the Zana Khan District headquarter in Ghazni City and have left the area after seizing all military equipment available, officials confirmed on Thursday.
Provincial police chief, Mustafa Mayar, told Ariana News the Taliban militants attacked at the district last night at around 01:00 am. He added that four policemen were killed and seven others wounded in the clashes with the militants.
A provincial council member, Abdul Jamay Jamay said that the insurgents have seized some military equipment and torched the security checkpoints.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed the district had been overrun and “lots of weapons/equipment” had been seized.
This comes as earlier the district headquarter was shifted close to the capital of Ghazni for security reasons.
