(Last Updated On: February 22, 2018)

Eight members of Afghan Local Police (ALP) killed last night by Taliban militants in Deh Yak district of Ghazni province, a local official said Thursday.

Provincial governor spokesman, Mohammad Arif Noori, told Ariana News that the incident took place last night at around 10:30pm after a group of Taliban fighters attacked an ALP military center in Rabat village of the district.

He said eight members of ALP killed after hours of clashes between the two sides.

According to Mr. Noori, the insurgents have also experienced casualties, but the exact number was unknown.

This comes weeks after the Afghan forces claimed that they have cleared these areas from the existence of insurgents in a military operation under the name of “Nabard Ahaneen”.

Ghazni is among the volatile provinces in the central-east part of the country where the Taliban groups are actively operating in a number of its districts and usually carrying out attacks against Afghan security forces.
