At least 12 Taliban militants were killed and 4 others injured in clashes with the Afghan security forces in northern Baghlan and Faryab provinces, the Afghan Military said on Wednesday.
Mohammad Hanif Rezaie a spokesman for the 209th Shaheen Corps told Ariana News that the Afghan security forces conducted ground and air operations in Baghlan and Faryab provinces.
A Taliban local commander along with 9 insurgents were killed and 4 others wounded in the airstrikes launched by Afghan forces in Garzivan district of Faryab province, Rezaie said.
According to Rezaie during the military raids three hideouts of the Taliban militants and a number of their weapons were also destroyed.
He added that another Taliban local commander along with a militant was killed during clashes with the security forces in Baghlan-i-Markazi District of Baghlan province.
Faryab and Baghlan are among the insecure provinces in northern Afghanistan, where the Taliban insurgents are actively operating in a number of their districts.
