Taliban Attacks Check Post in Ghazni, Kills Two Local Police

At least two local Afghan policemen were killed and six more were injured on Saturday night after the Taliban attacked a security check post in southeastern Ghazni province, officials said.  

The Provincial Police Chief, Mustafa Mayar confirmed the incident and said that at least 20 Taliban militants were killed in the two-hour long clashes which took place in Ayeen area of Qarabagh district.

Mayar added that additional troops were deployed at the scene and the insurgents suffered heavy casualties.

This comes as the Taliban has stepped up their insurgency across the country.

The group recently overturned many districts in deferent zones of the country, particularly, in Khakrez district of southern Kandahar province, where at least 30 Afghan soldiers were killed, following the Taliban’s large-scale of the attack on a camp.
