The Taliban fighters attacked security outposts in Khawaja Ghar district in northern Takhar province, killing at least four Afghan soldiers and wounding five others, a local official said on Saturday.
Jawad Hijri, as a spokesman for the provincial governor, told Ariana News that the incident took place close to Khawaja Ghar bazar of the district at around 1:30 am on Saturday.
At least four Afghan soldiers were killed and five others wounded in the incident, Hijri said.
However, He further claimed that the security forces have also inflicted heavy casualties to the Taliban militants but he did not give more details.
The Taliban insurgent group has not made a comment about the incident yet.
Takhar is among the insecure provinces in northern Afghanistan where the Taliban militants are actively operating in a number of its districts.
