Taliban insurgent group is active in some parts of Kabul’s Baghman, Mosehi, Sorobi and Qarabagh districts by creating overnight checkpoints in the capital, the provincial council chief of Kabul told Ariana News Sunday.
“They have checkpoints at nights and seek for security forces. They even kill the civilians,” said Sayeed Abdul Rahman Hashemi, chief of Kabul provincial council.
The inhabitants of Paghman district also confirm the presence of Taliban in Arghandi, Dar-e Pashayee areas of the district.
However, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) rejects these statements. MoI believes the presence of Taliban is impossible in Kabul.
Acting spokesman of MoI office, Najib Danish said, “we completely reject these statements. The Taliban’s presence is impossible in Kabul.”
This is the first time that the presence of Taliban group reveals in Kabul with their checkpoints during the nights.
