At least ten Taliban fighters were killed and seven others were wounded after the insurgent’s attack on Dasht-e-Archi District of Kunduz Province was repelled by Afghan forces, 217 Pamir corps said in a statement.

According to the statement, the attack on the center of Dasht-e-Archi District occurred at around 11 pm on Saturday night which faced resistance by Afghan forces.

217 Pamir Corps further added that Mawlawi Mobashir, Taliban’s deputy military head for the province was also among the dead.

Meanwhile, Kunduz Police Chief Abdul Rashid Bashir said that at least one Afghan soldier was also killed while four others were wounded in the clashes.

This comes as 217 Pamir Corps, on Thursday, launched a military operation in Kunduz outskirts which according to officials will continue until the area is cleared completely of Taliban militants.

Kunduz is a volatile province in northern Afghanistan where the Taliban insurgents have significant presence in its districts and city outskirts.

According to the source, the incident happened on Tuesday night in Arbab Khail village of Kunduz’s Imam Sahib District.

However, local military officials confirm the attack, saying only one Afghan soldier was killed while four others were wounded in the clashes with Taliban.

According to Abdul Hadi, a spokesman for 217 Pamir Corps, the attack was repelled by Afghan forces after a four hour clash in which at least 10 Taliban Red Unit fighters were also killed.

Meanwhile, Safiullah, a member of Kunduz provincial council claimed that casualties of Afghan forces are more than the figures announced by the military officials.

The Taliban militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Kunduz is a volatile province in northern Afghanistan where insurgents have a significant presence in a number of its districts.

Kalamudin, the police chief for Balkh’s Chahar Bolak district, was killed in a Taliban attack, local officials confirmed.

The Provincial Head of Security Abdul Razaq Qaderi, told Ariana News that the Taliban fighters attacked the district at around 4:00 am on Wednesday, leaving at least three other policemen wounded.

In addition, Qaderi stated that at least six Taliban fighters were also killed while four fighters wounded in clashes with Afghan forces.

The Taliban militant group yet to make a comment in this regard.

Amrudin Wali, a member of Kunduz Provincial Council told Ariana News that Taliban fighters attacked  Akhtar Tapa security checkpoint in Khan Abad district at around 11 am on Tuesday night resulting in above casualties.

Mr. Wali added that heavy clashes between Afghan forces and Taliban continued for hours.

Meanwhile, local officials in Kunduz  confirms the Taliban attack but do not provide further details on the casualties of Afghan forces.

Kunduz is among the volatile provinces in the north of Afghanistan where the Taliban insurgent group have a huge presence in a number of its districts.

Afghanistan’s Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mohammad Sharif Yaftali said Tuesday that Afghan security forces have full control of Ghazni City.

He added that a clearance operation was underway in the city and it will expand to the districts of the province later.

At the same time, Deputy Interior Minister for Security Gen. Akhtar Mohammad Ibrahimi claimed that the Taliban were aided by Al Qaeda and Daesh affiliates to attack the city.

Provincial governor Wahidullah Kalimzai confirmed that about 30 civilians and more than a hundred security personnel had been killed.

Governor Kalimzai said that Salaam mobile network will be activated in the city in another few hours.

On Aug. 10, hundreds of Taliban fighters attacked Ghazni city and fought with government forces for four days.

The development comes after fresh reinforcements led-by the Chief of Army Staff and Deputy Interior Minister for Security was deployed to the province to push Taliban back from the city center.

On Monday, the Minister of Defense Gen. Tariq Shah Bahrami put the number of dead Taliban fighters at about 200.

However, Taliban insurgent group still claims the group controls “all previously liberated points in Ghazni city”.

10 Afghan forces were killed in two separate Taliban attacks which stroke a voters registration center and a security outpost in different parts of the western Badghis province, according to local officials.

Seven Afghan National Army soldiers were killed after they were attacked by the Taliban in a voters’ registration center in Badghis province, according to Abdul Aziz Big, the Provincial Council chief.

He added that the soldiers had been newly deployed to the center for ensuring its security.

The local official further stated that three Afghan police forces were also killed and their outpost fell to the Taliban after they came under the militants attack in Qadis district of the province.

Meanwhile, local security officials rejected the details provided by the Provincial Council chief regarding casualties of Afghan forces.

According to Faiz Mohammad Mirzazadah, Badghis acting governor, the Taliban suffered heavy casualties in these incidents while four Afghan forces lost their lives in the battle with the militants.

Three Afghan soldiers were killed and three others sustained injuries after a group of Taliban militants attacked a security outpost in the capital of the Northern Sar-e-Pul province.

A security source who asked to be not named confirming the incident told Ariana News that the Taliban set fire on the outpost and escaped the area before the arrival of backup forces.

He said that the attack was launched overnight on the outpost in Chamchagh leegjar area and the battle lasted until earlier this morning.

“Five Taliban insurgents were killed and wounded in counter-attack responses by Afghan security forces in the battle which lasted for two hours”, said Assadullah Habibi, Security Head of Jowzjan Police Chief.

Meanwhile, Sardar, a soldier who survived the Taliban attack stated that they were attacked by a group of 200 Taliban fighters equipped with night vision goggle and advanced laser-weapons system.

This comes a day after five Afghan forces were killed and seven others wounded also in Sar-e-Pul’s capital in a Taliban attack.

“The attack was carried out around 6:00 AM this morning on Zarkharid outpost of Kunduz city and Shaikh Zaher, the commander was also killed in the attack”, the provincial police chief told Ariana News.

According to the local authorities, the battle between both sides lasted for an hour and was over upon the arrival of back up forces.

The authorities further noted that the militants fled the area after they suffered heavy casualties as the result of Afghan counter-attacks.

However they said that exact death toll is yet to be clear.

Local authorities have confirmed the dead of at least eight Afghan security forces in latest attack by the Taliban militants in the vicinity of Farah’s capital city.

Eight Afghan security forces were killed over the last night when the Taliban attacked their outpost in areas belonging to the provincial capital city, said Dadullah Qaneh, a member of provincial council.

He further indicated that four policemen and four soldiers of Afghan intelligence agency were also killed in the attack.

Meanwhile, Ariana News have found a video footage showing that Afghan forces in Shamalgah outpost of Farah province have surrendered to the Taliban after running out of munitions.

The outpost located in the vicinity of Farah’s capital city collapsed into the hands of Taliban two days ago.

Nearly, 50 Afghan forces have lost their lives in such brutal attacks of the militants just over the course of last five days in the western province.

Local authorities said that Taliban couldn’t maintain control over the collapsed outposts and have fled the area after collecting weapons and munitions of Afghan forces.

Abdul Basir Salangi, governor of Farah province confirmed the death of 36 Afghan forces in recent battles with the Taliban but claimed that over 100 militants were killed in Afghan counter-attacks.

He further reiterated that the central government is aware of the situation and the Taliban will be targeted soon in a wide operation across the province.
