Lack of Security On Highways Is a Serious Challenge: CE Abdullah https://ariananews.af/lack-of-security-on-highways-is-a-serious-challenge-ce-abdullah/ Wed, 02 Aug 2017 16:15:22 +0000 http://ariananews.af/?p=228872

Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah says lack of security on highways particularly, on the Kabul-Kandahar Highway, is a serious challenge and opening the routes to traffic is one of the primary plans of the security forces.

Coordinated attacks on highways and checking passengers are serious threats that often most frustrating to Afghanistan’s populace. Abdullah said that improving security of the nation’s highways is “important,” requiring additional efforts by the security forces.

Meanwhile, Sediq Sediqi, the Director of Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), said that insurgent groups with guidance of regional intelligence, are using every possible option to harm the people.

“Killing civilians is the essential targets of insurgents. The insurgents closing the highways to create horror and the security forces are responsible to prevent the militants of doing that,” Sediqi said.

Concern about this issue comes as people are criticizing the government for its failure to ensure the security of Afghanistan’s highways. The insurgent groups, mainly the Taliban, pose a serious threat to major highways connecting Kabul to the nation’s northern provinces.
