Suicide bombing hits police checkpoint in Kandahar, Killing 1
A suicide bombing hit a police checkpoint in eastern Kandahar province of Afghanistan, Killing a police and injuring another police member, a local official said.
The attack took place around 10:00 am local time in Kandahar city.
“As a result of the attack a security police was killed and another was injured,” Zia Durrani provincial police spokesman told to Ariana News,” the attacker detonate his explosive vest after identified by Afghan security forces.”
Durrani added, heavy clashes was going on between the Afghan security forces and Taliban militants in Ghorak district of southern Kandahar since three days, but it was ended after Taliban militants retreated.
According to the source more than 800 Taliban fighters raided over the district, but experienced heavy causalities.
At least 37 Taliban insurgents were killed during the battle with the Afghan forces and currently clearance operations continue in the area, Durrani said.
He said we have no report of any causality from Afghan security forces during the fighting with Taliban.
The Taliban group has increased attacks against Afghan government across the country after the group announced spring offensive.
