13 people were killed and 40 others wounded in a suicide bombing in northeastern Kunar province of Afghanistan, local officials said.
A suicide attacker riding a motorcycle has detonated himself around 10:00 am local time in front of a market in Asad Abad city of Kunar province, Abdul Ghani Musamim, provincial governor’s spokesman said.
“The attacker has targeted civilians, but the exact number of causalities is still unclear,” Musamim added.
On the condition of anonymity, an official source has confirmed 13 dead and 40 injuries as a result of the explosion.
The target of the attacker was Haji Khan Jan, leading the local upraising against the anti-government rebels in Dangam district, the source added.
The explosion has reported very powerful which has took place right across from the governor’s office.
Haji Khan Jan, former Jihadi commander linked to Hizb-e-Islami who started upraising against the Taliban in Dangam since a few years ago, reported to be among the victims.
No group including the Taliban insurgents group has yet claimed the responsibility of the attack.
