At least three civilians were wounded in a suicide attack at Bagram airbase in Parwan province on Wednesday night, officials said.

The Bagram District Governor, Abdul Shokor Qodosi said the incident happened when a suicide bomber aimed to target “foreign forces” near the base, adding that the suicide bomber detonated his explosives after he was identified by these forces.

According to Qodosi, no casualties occurred to foreign military.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack as the group’s Spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid said that it was in response to U.S. offensive leaflet which contained a passage from the Quran used in the Taliban militants’ banner superimposed on to the image of a dog.
