Mohammad Masoum Stanikzai has been introduced to the Lower House of Parliament for a vote of confidence as Afghanistan new defense minister.
In addition, ARG (Afghanistan Presidential Palace) announced Gen. Qadam Shah Shahim, the Commander of Army Division 111th as the new Chief of Army Staff and Gen. Abdul Khaliq as the first deputy of the defense minister.
Stanikzai has served as the Secretariat for the High Peace Council, National Security Advisor to ex-President Hamid Karzai and as the minister of communications.
These nomination and appointments come Nine months after the formation of the National Unity Government.
Earlier, President Ghani introduced Gen. Shir Mohammad Karimi for a vote of confidence, but he could not secure the votes required by Afghan lawmakers.
