Salama dam has been inaugurated by both Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and India Primes Minister Narendra Modi early Saturday morning at Chast district of Herat province, amid tight security and great preparation have been taken by the local officials in Herat.
India Government has spent $270 million on the following joint India-Afghanistan friendship dam called Salama, which produces 42 ,mega watt electricity and waters about 72,000 acres of lands in Herat province, this is the biggest project of India launched in Afghanistan.
Afghan experts believed that the following project will be Nationwide if more attention of Afghan Government is drawn.
US goodwill Ambassador Farhad Darya said,” Today Harerot review is overflowing from happiness, and it’s a shame for those who have been preventing Afghan Nation to reach to their prosperity.”
Political expert Ahmad Saiedi said,” Despite of the following dam boosts economy, it was also approved that India has brought us lights, but Pakistan has always tried to keep Afghanistan in dark side, this issue should be understand by the Afghan Nation.”
Salama dam foundation was put 40 years ago but proxy war in Afghanistan and interfering of neighboring countries have prevented Afghanistan to reach to its prosperity.
“ if there is possibility the following dam capacity will be raised and it will turn into a Nationwide project for Afghan Nation former Minister of Commerce and industry Mohammad Amin Farhang said.”
Despite of the following biggest project launched by Indian Government, they have also built Afghanistan parliament building and spent $220 million in west of Kabul city.
