Russia PM Says Taliban-Daesh Cooperation Has Complicated War in Afghanistan

Russia’s Prime Minister Demitry Medvedev says the cooperation of Taliban and Daesh has complicated the war in Afghanistan, the chief executive’s office said in a statement.

Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah met with Russia’s Prime Minister on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Russian Sochi City on Friday.

In addition, Medvedev has said that Moscow continues to be committed to Afghanistan’s restoration as an independent and stable nation.

According to the statement, Medvedev has shown his country readiness to cooperate in infrastructure projects in Afghanistan.

Furthermoreو Russia PM has said that Moscow supports the Afghan peace process and will cooperate with Kabul based on the pre-established mechanisms.

For his part, Abdullah said Taliban has provided the chance for Daesh and other insurgent groups, adding that Afghanistan is fighting against all these insurgent groups.

On business cooperation, Abdullah said that Kabul is eager to cooperate with Russian investors and would like to solve their problems and concerns.

Abdullah has thanked Russia for its readiness to support Afghan peace process, calling on Moscow to use its influence on Pakistan to eliminate terrorists’ safe havens on its soil.
