Russia Keen to Invest in Afghanistan’s Energy Sector

1Officials in Ministry of Energy and Water (MEW) said Russia is keen to invest in energy sector and building of water dams in Afghanistan, citing a special committee has been established for more coordination and to create more facilities and opportunities for investors.

Minister of Energy and Water, Ali Ahmad Osmani said, “Ministry of Energy of Russia, and some Russian companies are interested to invest in Afghanistan on producing of energy and build water dams and we welcome their inclination.”

In the meantime, officials in Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) declared the Russia investments in Afghanistan important.

“Russia is willing to invest in Afghanistan’s infrastructure, while the western countries do not support the expand of Russia’s investments in Afghanistan,” Deputy of chamber of commerce and industry Khanjan Alkozai said.

Related to the story officials in Afghanistan chamber of commerce and industry demanded the Afghan government to launch more efforts to attract more Russia’s investments and increase of business deals with middle Asian countries.
