Two militants attacked Mirwais hospital in Kandahar city in southern Afghanistan on Monday, and the following gun battle with security forces killed three people including two attackers and a patient, deputy provincial police chief Rahmatullah Atrafi said.
“The security forces in almost two hours had killed both the attackers on Mir Wais hospital and the situation is under control at the moment,” Atrafi said.
Two armed militants sneaked into a government-run health clinic, the Mir Wais hospital in Kandahar city at around 11:00 a.m. local time triggering gun battle. However, the security forces after around two hours of fire exchange have killed both the attackers.
“Unfortunately, a patient was also killed during the firefight and two security personnel sustained injuries,” the official admitted.
The official put finger at the enemies of peace, a reference to the Taliban militants for organizing the attack, but armed outfit has yet to claim responsibility.
