Provincial governor spokesman, Mohammad Arif Noori, said that the offensive named “Nabard-e-Ahaneen” was conducted in a number of districts in Ghazni province in which more than 50 Taliban militants were killed and nearly 50 others were wounded.
The official also confirmed the dead of four Afghan security members and injuries of nine others.
According to Mr. Noori, no civilian was harmed during the operations.
Taliban has not made a comment about the report yet.
But the group’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, on Monday claimed killing of five police in an overnight attack in Rawza area of Ghazni City.
Ghazni is among the volatile provinces in Afghanistan where the insurgents are actively operating in a number of its districts and usually carrying out deadly attacks against Afghan forces.
