Officials inaugurate 10MW solar farm in Naghlu area of Kabul

According to officials, a total of $7.6 million has been invested in the Naghlu solar farm. 10,000 households in Kabul and Nangarhar provinces benefit from the project.

Officials on Saturday inaugurated a solar farm in Kabul's Surobi district, capable of generating 10 megawatts of electricity.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Acting Minster of Energy and Water Abdul Latif Mansoor said that the ministry is focusing on generating electricity domestically and intends to implement renewable energy projects in various provinces of the country.

Meanwhile, Noorul Haq Anwar, the general director of administrative affairs of the PM’s office, emphasized that the conditions were suitable for the country to become self-reliant. He said that the time has come for Afghans to work together to rebuild the country.

Aminullah Obaid, the governor of Kabul, also assured the investors that the Islamic Emirate is committed to facilitate investment.

UN’s Afghanistan human rights envoy to visit Canada

The United Nations' Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, will visit Canada from 20 to 26 October, the UN has announced.

Bennett will meet with a range of stakeholders to discuss the ongoing human rights crisis in Afghanistan and the ways in which the Canadian government can continue to stand for the human rights of the people of Afghanistan, the UN said in a statement.

Bennett will visit Ottawa to meet with representatives of the government of Canada. He will also travel to Toronto. He will engage with diverse groups of Afghans, including refugees who have been resettled in Canada since the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) seized power in August 2021.

He will meet Afghan human rights defenders, including women human rights defenders, journalists, experts, and organisations supporting those who have fled Afghanistan, as well as Canadian civil society organisations.

South Korea says it strives to ensure Afghanistan aid is distributed transparently

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea has said that Seoul strives to ensure the transparent and effective implementation of international organizations’ projects conducted with Korea’s contribution.

The ministry said in a statement that South Korea's special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Lee Kyung-chul, has held a meeting with representatives of international organizations to review humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

According to the statement, South Korea provided a total of $74 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan from 2021 to 2023, and the beneficiaries were women, children, refugeess and displaced persons.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea emphasized that it will continue to provide aid to Afghanistan.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) on Friday condoled the death of Yahya Ibrahim Hassan al-Sinwar, the leader of the Hamas movement, in combat in Gaza by Israeli forces.

In a statement released by the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, it is stated that “martyrdom in the path of Allah represents the highest aspiration for every Muslim, particularly for a combatant Mujahid.”

“We extend our deepest condolences to the Islamic Movement of Hamas, to all mujahideen, and especially to the oppressed and courageous Palestinian fighters, on the martyrdom of our heroic mujahid brother, Yahya Sinwar,” the statement said.

IEA told Israel that “the martyrdom of mujahideen leaders will only serve to intensify and fortify the resistance and Jihadist struggle against the enemy.”

It called on Muslims worldwide to “stand in solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine, to support their cause, and to fulfill the divine duty incumbent upon all of us in this regard.”

Israeli forces killed Sinwar on Wednesday.
