NUG’s Female Nominee Disapproved Among 12 Ministerial Nominees

11 Nominees of the National Unity Government (NUG) have been approved by the Parliament but Nargis Nehan, the only female nominee who was introduced as the candidate Minister of Mines and Petroleum couldn’t secure enough votes of confidence.

Every candidate had to get 112 votes of confidence, as 206 Members of Parliament were present today for casting their votes of confidence to the introduced ministerial nominees of the government.

Nargis Nihan, who was introduced among 12 new ministerial nominees could get 107 votes of confidence, 5 votes fewer than the needed number of approval votes. Some female reacted nervously regarding Nehan’s disapproval and described the MPs as misogynists.

All other 11 candidate ministers, including Tareq Shah Bahrami and Wais Ahmad Barmak, the nominees for Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Interior (respectively securing 141 and 173 votes of confidence) have been approved by the Parliament as Ministers.

The ministerial nominees were introduced by the Vice President Sarwar Danesh few days ago and presented their working plans during past 2 days to the MPs.
