Expressing concerns about the increase of non-standard buildings in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MUDH) says it will destroy or Rehabilitate these buildings across the country.
“Since last 17 years, non-standard buildings have been terribly increased not only in Kabul but also in other provinces,” Nilofar Langar, Spokesman for the MUDH told reporters on Monday.
However, Nilofar Langar stressed that the current solar year has been a successful one for MUDH in terms of implementing its projects, adding that the ministry has managed to spend 87 percent of its development budget this year.
“In a total of 93 projects in 1396 being referred to Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, 89 of the projects have been implemented and due to lack of land, four projects have been not executed and that were included into the ministry’s next year’s plan,” she said.
This comes economic analysts believe, the government should oversee the construction of the buildings and be responsive to the challenges in this regard instead of being critical on quality of the buildings.
