As the government of President Ashraf Ghani is preparing to implement its security plan for the capital Kabul by placing barriers in the main roads to the center of the city, the barriers create problem for fire-fighters and citizens as huge fires occur.
During the last couple of days, the Kabul municipality has limited access of ambulances, fire-brigade and super lorries to the center of the City by placing barriers.
In a fresh event, a fruits market caught fire this afternoon burning several shops in the vicinity of the 4th police district of the city. Shopkeepers blamed firefighting teams for arriving late to the area to extinguish the fire.
Head of the Fire and Disaster police urges the government to resolve this issue.
“When a natural or abnormal event take place, the fire-brigades cannot cross the barriers,” Major General Mahboob Amiri Head of the Fire and Disaster Department said.
Kabul police officials deny to make a comment about the new security measures which have made the live of Kabul residents harder.
This comes as the city witnessed unprecedented violence in the past one month. Apparently, the attack near the embassy of Germany in Kabul which killed dozens of Afghans has leaded to the development of the security plan for the capital.
