MRRD Allocates $70 Million on Building Rural Roads

akbar-rustamiThe Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has allocated $70 Million for building the rural roads in Afghanistan.

The authorities in Ministry of Rehabilitation and Development have said that the new project will connect villages to districts, provincial capitals and it will have great impacts on the country’s economic development.

“We have decided to construct 705 kilometers streets and 1693 meters of concrete bridges, it costs $70 million. World Bank together with the Afghan Government fund the project.” said Akbar Rustami, spokesman of the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Development.

Meanwhile, a number of Afghan economic experts believe that the new project is very promising on the economical development of the country and the village’s products delivery to supermarkets.

According to MRRD officials, 400 Kilometers of the rural roads and more than 1000 bridges have been built last year. They have decided to double the constructions this year.
