Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL) has inked five projects worth $ 100 million with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Monday.
USAID mission director, Herbert Smith says that in continuation of USAID’s assistances, they are trying to increase these aids to strengthen the agriculture programs.
“We will support agriculture programs of Afghanistan in Brussels summit which will be held in October. It also have a positive impact on the economy of Afghanistan,” said Herbert Smith, USAID mission director.
In the meantime, the minister of agriculture said the $ 100 million for the five projects will be used in various parts of the country.
According to Asadullah Zamir, minister of agriculture, the five projects will be completed in four years and Afghanistan’s fruits will be ready for competition in the global markets.
“These projects are very important and we are trying to make the fruits of Afghanistan globally with implementation of these projects,” said Asadullah Zamir, minister of MoAIL.
According to officials of USAID, they have implemented a number of projects worth $ 30 million in this sector.
