Wolesi Jirga on Wednesday session summoned security officials from Ministry of Interior (MoI), Ministry of Defense (MoD) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) to provide their justifications regarding the recent volatile security situation across the country.

The lawmakers blamed security officials for laziness and incompetence.

Fawzia Kofee, a member of parliament said,” we understand Pakistan Intelligence Service is attacking us, but what have you done in response to them?

“When are you going to stable our country? You are not arresting spies, there is no reward and punishment system, there are snakes in our own sleeves, no one denies,” another MP Shokria Barakzai noted.

Acting Head of Afghanistan NDS, Rahmatullah Nabil declared that Afghan government has not invested on intelligence agencies and currently about 103 internal countercurrent militant groups and 107 terrorist centers are threatening Kabul security.

He added, the main reason behind the insecurity is lack of a single security strategy, lack of government investment and insurgents immunity and impunity by the state.

The officials were summoned behind closed doors due to the sensitivity of the issue after a number of coordinated attacks killed and injured a large number of Afghan military members and civilians.
