Kabul ‘Zadran’ Commercial Market Gutted in Huge Fire

KOTE SANGE FINAL__04 - 08 - 2016 - DARI_SOT.mpg_snapshot_01.07_[2016.08.04_19.03.01]One person died and seven others were wounded in a huge fire that broke out in a 6-floor shopping center, Absin Zadran market in capital, Kabul, early on Thursday.

According to witnesses, the 8th floor of market’s building gutted at about 11 AM, as all shopkeepers and people escaped thinking the presence of a suicide attacker in the building.

One shopkeeper reportedly died after jumping from the 9th floor of the market’s building and the six injured were all firemen.

Kabul chief of police, Abdul Rahman Rahimi said, ” the fire started after an electric iron was left switched on in a tailor’s shop on the top floor of the 10-storey building.”

Shopkeepers have voiced concerns over their good, claiming the loss of millions of worth goods.

The fire was believed to have been started deliberately.

Clothes, jewellary and other items are sold in the 1,200 shopping stores of the Abasin Zadran market.
