Four people, including a detective officer were killed in an attack of unidentified gunmen in northern Jawzjan province on Friday, officials said.
The crime branch officer, Abdul Latif, was killed when he was in the way to Khowaja Dokoh district to conduct raid in the area to detain insurgent leaders, said operations officer Abdul Manan Raoufi.
He added the detective officer was killed along with one of his family members after heavy clashes in Qiresh village. An eleven year old girl was also killed in the attack.
According to Jawzjan police, one of attackers was killed and the other one was injured.
Zabihullah Mujahid, claiming to be Taliban’s spokesman, has said in a statement that their operatives had killed two police officers.
Mujahid has also confirmed killing of one of their members in the attack.
