The two detained IS insurgents identified as Ghaibullah and Haji Mulla admitted that the Islamic State group is operating in four Afghan provinces, while being engaged in recruiting in other parts of the country.
The two militants aged 20 and 47 each, added that they were in battle with Afghan security forces since a year or so and were arrested by Intelligence operatives of northern Kunduz province.
“I was told that we will capture Afghanistan and will execute Islamic Law in the country,” the IS militant Ghaibullah said. Adding that he has trained other fellows for three years.
“I got success, god given me the success. My friends were failed, “the other IS insurgent Haji Mullah said. “I was a trainer since three years there,” he added.
Nangarhar is among the relatively secure provinces in Afghanistan but the anti-government armed militant groups including IS have recently increased their insurgency activities in some parts of the province.
