Iranian president stresses need for cooperation with Tajikistan over Afghanistan

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a meeting with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahman, has emphasized the need for cooperation to help Afghanistan.

The meeting took place on Monday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

According to a statement released by Iran’s presidency, Pezeshkian considered the issue of Afghanistan as a common issue between Tehran and Dushanbe.

He also emphasized the need for greater convergence and cooperation between Tehran and Dushanbe to help Afghanistan overcome the problems and issues ahead.

Referring to the cultural, historical and civilizational relations between Iran and Tajikistan, Pezeshkian emphasized on the expansion of these relations.
