IEA says mistreatment of Iranian officers against Afghan immigrants ‘highly reprehensible’

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate says the mistreatment of Iranian police officers with Afghan immigrants is “highly reprehensible” and such actions have aroused the deep concern of the Afghan government.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement published Friday, said that biased groups are trying to influence the positive and good relations between the two countries by abusing such incidents.
The foreign ministry called on Iranian officials to follow up on the perpetrators of the recent mistreatment of Afghan refugees.
Recently, a teenage Afghan refugee, Sayed Mahdi, was reportedly tortured by an Iranian police officer who knelt on his neck while he was under arrest.
Meanwhile, the officials of Afghan embassy in Tehran said Friday in a video message they met and took positive moves in locating this teenage Afghan immigrant who was violently detained by Iranian police.
The embassy officials met with Sayed Mahdi’s family and donated $1,000 dollars for his treatment.
