Hundreds of Families Displaced as Conflict Rages in Sar-e-Pul

Hundreds of families have been displaced as result of recent clashes between the government forces and the Taliban militants in northern province of Sar-e-Pul, officials said Thursday.

The government forces have been engaged in heavy battle with the Taliban to retake the Tebar area of Sancharak district which was collapsed to the insurgent group this week.

According to local officials,  civilians being used as sheilds by the Taliban in the battle with some already lost their lives after the medical centers being closed and doctors have fled the village.

Confirming the displacement of families in Tebar village, the Provincial Police Commander, Khalilullah Dastyar said that the security forces have backed themselves to suppress the insurgent in the district.

“In order to avoid casualties to civilians we are forced to advance step by step,” he said.
