Members of High Peace Council (HPC) a number of Parliament representatives on Wednesday hold a summit under the name of “National Conference for the Future of Peace Talks”.

One of President’s advisers declared that the High Peace Council should be disbanded due to the lack of achievements and a strong and qualified board must be set to advance peace talks.

President’s adviser noted that the lack of a strong will has caused the country to not reach a sustainable peace.

“The government should cancel the High Peace Council and set an authorized and qualified board which the Peace Talks process reaches to a result and the women’s role must also be considered in this process,” Malalay Shinwari, President’s adviser in social affairs said.

In the meantime, HPC head said to consider distrust between government and the armed oppositions the main purpose that the country not reaches to stability.

A number of Parliament representatives have also criticized the Peace Talks process, saying there are still many opportunities for peace talks which must be reviewed by the government.

“Afghan people should have the ownership of the peace process and there are still many opportunities to advance the Peace Negotiations,” Farkhunda Zahra Naderi said.

“We would not achieve peace as long as America does not reach its strategic goals in Afghanistan and Pakistan is also an obstacle against Peace Talks,” Ahmad Saeedi, political analyst said.

This comes as Islamabad hosted the first round of the official, face-to-face discussions in July but a planned second round was indefinitely postponed after the Afghan government announced that the Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, had died years earlier.
