Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the leader of Hezb-e-Islami, who is on his provincial trips after a newly reached political settlement with the National Unity Government (NUG) has strongly reacted to the proposal of convening Loya Jirga.
The so called HIG leader further warned that he will not allow anyone to undermine NUG and also opposed with the interim government instead of NUG.
“We are not agreed on convening Loya Jirga. Anyone who desires coming to power, should make it through the elections,” He stated while speaking at a press conference in Khost province.
He further noted that some parties are against NUG while some others who don’t believe the people are feared of elections are trying to prevent it from happening.
Hekmatyar showing dissatisfaction with the changes in the structures of Afghanistan Independent Election Commission (IEC) said that the changes had to be made previously why they are currently insisting on the matter.
Announcing his support, Hekmatyar asked the current IEC to hold elections under the oversight of NUG.
