A group of armed gunmen attacked a private company in eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday morning, a local official said.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for Nangarhar governor told Ariana News that gunmen stormed a construction private company close the airport in the provincial capital Nangarhar City, killing at least 16 employees of the company and wounding nine others.
Khogyani said two attackers detonated the explosives and five others were killed during clashes with the Afghan security forces.
According to the official, additional forces have been deployed and the clearance operation is underway in the area.
No individual or group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
