Girl Shot Dead by Her Brother in Badakhshan

A 15-year-old girl was shot dead by her brother in Keshim district of Badakhshan province, provincial officials said on Saturday.

In a statement released by the press office of the governor of Badakhshan said the 15-years-old Chaman Gul who was in grade 8th in Mashhad school, was shot dead in her house in Sya Qashlaq village of Keshim district in Badakhshan on Saturday morning.

Police has arrested her brother in connection to her dead, the statement added.

But her mother said to police that she had committed suicide using a pistol and her brother named Ghulam Dastagir claims he is not aware of the incident.

Officials said currently police is investigating the accused brother to find out if the finger prints on pistol is belong to the man, but the result is still unknown.

Earlier reports emerged that the girl was killed after her brother found out that she has participated in a birthday party in their neighboring.

Violence against women is increasing day by day in the country where only a few weeks ago a six-years-old baby girl was forced to marry a man of around 60-years-old in exchange for a goat, rice, tea, oil and sugar in western Ghor province of Afghanistan.
