Flooding in Bamiyan leaves seven dead, 10 missing

Flash floods in Bamiyan province in Afghanistan have left at least seven people dead, 10 missing and huge financial losses for the local community.

Floods swept through some areas of Yakawlang Number 1 district on Tuesday including the villages of Dozdan-e- Chashma, Hazar Chashma, and Pudinatu.

Abdul Saboor Saighani, the spokesperson of the press office of Bamyan province, said seven people are confirmed to have died and 10 others are still missing.

According to officials, the victims are from two families.

Saighani said a search for the missing is underway.

Additional flash floods over the past few days also caused financial losses to people in Waras, Panjab and Kohmard districts.
