Farhad Darya Recognized As Ambassador of “Save the Children”

Popular Afghan musician known for drawing huge crowds across Afghanistan recognized as ambassador of “Save the Children” an international organization supporting children.

Singer-songwriter, Farhad Darya also award-winner of UN ambassador and peace activist was said to consider reaching to Afghan children rights is a long and difficult way; stressing respect to children’s right should be a part of our culture.

After living in exile for more than a decade, Darya was able to return to Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban. Since 2001, he has been working with street children as part of a project called “Kochah” or “Street” in Afghan.

“Working with Afghan children cannot be summarized just only in one or two programs. We have a long way ahead and we have long-term programs in several fields for Afghan children,” international ambassador of supporting Afghan children “Save the Children, Farhad Darya said.

The international singer, Farhad Darya criticized the current performances and lack of children access to their residency rights.

Darya is also actively involved in a number of charitable organizations. He is the founder of ”Music Village,” a Kabul-based non-profit organization seeking to preserve Afghan music, as well as the charity “Kocha” (“Street”), which supports orphans and disadvantaged children.

Since 2008, he has served as the UNDP (United Nations Development Program) National Goodwill Ambassador for Afghanistan.
