Ajrayaa 02_02_2017_DARI_SOT.mpg_snapshot_00.39_[2017.02.02_16.55.18]Afghanistan Executive Office says the acting governor of Balkh, Atta Muhammad Noor started talks with Afghan presidency as chief executive officer of the Jamiat-e Islami party not as CEO of the country.

Spokesman of the Executive Officer noted that the government has not made any decision about suggesting power to Mr. Noor.

“Atta Muhammad Noor, as a politician and the acting governor of Balkh has the right to negotiate, but he started his talks as CEO of Jamiat Party not the Executive Officer of the country,” said Mujib Rahman, spokesman of CEO.

Meanwhile, with the intensify of rumors about Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s visit from Kabul in the near future, the Executive Office said all prisoners of the Hekmatyar’s party who cut of relation with insurgent groups will be released from jails.

“One of the articles of political agreement between the government and Hezb-e Islami party is the release of prisoners,” Rahman added.

The Afghan government has signed a peace agreement with Hezb-e-Islami, the country’s second largest militant group in a ceremony shown live on TV.

The deal grants immunity to the group’s leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the Islamist warlord accused of numerous atrocities.

He was not present at the signing, which is intended to pave the way for him to return from hiding to Kabul.
