Ensuring Peace in Afghanistan ‘Impossible’ with Presence of Foreign Troops: HIA

(Last Updated On: December 2, 2017)

Hezb-e-Islami led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar warns that ensuring peace in Afghanistan is “impossible” with presence of foreign troops in the country.

The coalition forces alongside Afghan counterpart are being involved in fight against terrorism since last 16 years in Afghanistan, to make sure the insurgent groups do not find safe havens in the war-torn country.

However, Hezb-e-Islami believes peace and stability cannot be maintained in Afghanistan with presence of foreign forces.

“At the time when most of the foreign forces have left Afghanistan, Hekmatyar has returned and joined peace process,” said Mohammad Amin Karim, a member of Hezb-e-Islami. “There are certain circles and countries that seek their interests in continuation of war in Afghanistan and the government is aware of that.”

He, meanwhile, stressed that the government should bring amendment in the constitution and find a political solution for the ongoing war in the country.

“The Afghanistan war has a political solution not military and it should be resolved through dialogue,” he said.
