Election to be held with new commissioners: CEO

Afghanistan Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Abdullah Abdullah says that the upcoming elections will be held with presence of new members of the electoral commissions.

Despite President’s decree rejected by National Assembly, but now CEO in a press conference said that reforms of electoral system was and is an essential need.

“The election affairs will be carried out by new members of the electoral commissions,” said CEO, Abdullah Abdullah.

Previously, chairman of the election commission, Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani has said that the selection of new commissioners is contrary to the constitution and according to him, the current commissioners must manage the upcoming Parliamentary election.

This comes as that the electoral bodies were said to consider the selection of new commissioners unacceptable.
