Eight Killed, Four Wounded in Herat Traffic Accident

At least eight people were killed and four others were wounded in a traffic accident in Herat-Karokh highway, local officials said.

According to the spokesman of Herat Central Hosipital, Muhammad Shafiq Sherzay, three injured are in a severe situation.

The families of victims criticized the drivers’ fast speed and the lack of prevention of such fatal incidents by traffic police saying, the drivers do not follow and obey traffic laws and even use drugs while driving.

Blaming reckless driving for the deadly crash, the officials also said that careless driving often leads to deadly accidents in the province.

Unprofessional driving and bad road conditions usually turn into traffic accidents in Afghanistan leaving hundreds of people killed and wounded every year.
