Drug Warlords Support War in Helmand: Ahmadi

Deputy Counter-Narcotic Drug in Ministry of Interior Affairs has stated that the drug warlords in Helmand province support financially Taliban to continue to its fight against Afghan Government, and the ongoing war in the following state is the war of drug.

Mr. Baz Mohammad Ahmadi said,” drug warlords in Helmand province are standing by the side of the Taliban providing financial supports to keep the war ball rolling.”

“ Drug warlords in order to gain more money out of Narcotic drugs have expanded about 90 percent of drug plantation in insecure provinces of Afghanistan, claiming that 3 International drug traffickers were arrested along 120 tons of Narcotic drugs in past 4 months Deputy counter-Narcotic drug in Ministry of Interior Affairs Baz Mohammad Ahmadi said,”

Taking the drug plantation in the insecure provinces of Afghanistan is counted as biggest barriers for the Government of Afghanistan to tackle against the following phenomenon.

Officials in Ministry of Interior Affairs declared the war was intensified due to insecurity, increasing of drug plantation, and producing of opium in this year, and joining the drug warlords with Taliban.

He said,” based on the estimation 30 percent of the ongoing war is due to the using of drugs.”

The 3 International drug traffickers whom were arrested by the Afghan security forces are Juma Khan Nangarhar resident, Ghulam Sakhi and Mirwali whom were doing drug business in the past 10 years supporting Taliban financially.

Afghan security forces have launched 749 operations where 917 drug traffickers were arrested along 126 tons of drugs, only 27 of the drug traffickers were arrested from the Kabul International airport.
